Developing standards to promote the digital integration of networks

Extending the integration of processes and information systems to e-business as a whole involves spreading the same solutions to all sub-contractors, whatever their ranking in the network.

Unlike EDI in the 1990’s and the more recent Virtual Design Plateaus, which were only aimed at big suppliers, digital exchange is for all suppliers, including SMEs. For digital integration to work, international standards developed in respect of best practice are vital.
In addition, most SMEs are multi-sectors, making the businesses interdependent, which means that there is a need for coordination from the point of view of standards, to guarantee the interoperability of the digital solutions on offer.
